Self Build Weekend: £200 for four days
New for 2008 / 2009 is a Self Build Weekend. All four days can be booked together for £200, or you can just book each day individually for £55.

Day One: make and erect a timber frame.
Day Two: building with the straw.
Day Three: mixing and applying lime renders and mortars.
Day Four: traditonal roofing

Nick Parsons from the award-winning South Yorkshire Energy Centre, is the tutor for the building with timber and straw sections; while Andy Lawson of Limecraft runs the Lime render and mrotars course; with Richard Jordon of Amber Roofing ending the weekend with an introduction to traditonal roofing.

The courses will aim to raise the awareness and practical competence of individuals whose property or business would benefit from the added knowledge of these new skills.

Discover the theory behind straw-bale building - construct a comer of a load-bearing straw-bale building and plaster it with lime render. If you want to understand more about self build methods - this could be the course for you!

    What is Walter Segal Timber Frame building? This introductory course will explain the background to this method and the practicalities of constructing and erecting simple frames for a garden shed or summer house.
